General Responsibility: Ensure a safe, healthy learning environment for children ages 18 months-5 years. Tri-County Community Action Agency is looking for energetic, enthusiastic substitute teachers. Background knowledge in completing assessments, implementing curriculum tools, and understanding of the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards is a plus.
Specific Responsibilities: Providing an environment that is socially and emotionally supportive to children and their families. Assisting the co-teacher, as directed, in conducting daily, age-appropriate activities for the children. Helping with the necessary steps to implementing mealtime. Eating with and assisting children in the development of social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices. Working alongside co-teacher, as directed, in preparing, setting up, conducting and cleaning up daily, age-appropriate activities for the children.
Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience working with children of this age group (18 months-5 years). Preferred qualifications are: Associates Degree Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler CDA, or Preschool CDA. Knowledge of the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards preferred.
Special Qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age. CPR/First Aid Certified preferred. Must be able to work in a team environment with staff and families, be creative, and have good communication and leadership skills. Willingness to be flexible to meet the needs of the program.
