Maintenance Worker

Tri-County Water is looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and responsible individual to join our team. Tri-County serves treated domestic water to the approximately 20,000 people in rural areas of the beautiful Uncompahgre Valley in Western Colorado where there are unlimited outdoor recreation opportunities while enjoying a mild to moderate year-round climate.

The job is an entry level maintenance position with opportunity for advancement. The District encourages, supports funds efforts to acquire state certification in Water Distribution and offers it's employees opportunity to attend educational and professional development trainings and workshops. The successful individual will be expected to perform duties listed below. Utility, construction, or technical trade experience as well as effective communication and time management skills are desired.

DUTIES:

  • Assist operators and fellow employees in accomplishment of construction, operation and maintenance tasks for the District's domestic water distribution system.
  • Perform any and all tasks as requested by job supervisor within skill and knowledge level.
  • Ensure safety of all fellow workers and the general public while performing daily field operations and specific tasks as assigned.
  • Advise job supervisor as to any needs related to task at hand.
  • Maintain valid Colorado driver’s license. Ability to acquire Commercial Driver’s license.
  • Practice good housekeeping habits to minimize safety hazards and maintain equipment and workshop.

Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • English language and grammar necessary to maintain good written and oral communication. Ability to communicate and cooperate with fellow workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to use District’s system maps to locate infrastructure and facilities.
  • Basic math skills.

Construction techniques required to construct and maintain typical domestic water system infrastructure and appurtenant structures. Basic knowledge of underground installation practices of the various types of pipe and appurtenant water distribution system facilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires ability to lift objects that may weigh in excess 50 pounds. Will be required to walk, climb, bend, and reach. Must have physical ability to work in extreme temperatures with proper clothing and protective gear. Will be required to perform repetitive task with basic hand tools such as shovel and broom. May be required to use other tools such as a jack hammer, pick and ax, chain saw, and cutoff saw.

2022 Starting Salary Range: $45,185 - $56,480 DOE
