What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Estimator position at Triangle Grading & Paving, Inc?
Triangle Grading and Paving, Inc. is seeking a Junior Estimator (or mid-level estimator) to join our company. As a junior estimator, you will support cost estimating and budgetary development activities on civil construction projects. You will be responsible for ensuring that bids, estimates, and budgets are submitted timely and accurately, keeping Triangle’s values of integrity and intelligence in mind.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and scope of work
- Identify and quantify scope elements from provided plans and specifications
- Ensure bids, estimates, and budgets are reviewed and submitted in a timely manner
- Compile vendor and sub-contractor estimates, proposals, and leveling forms
- Perform quantity take-offs and turnkey estimates for projects
- Manage, submit, and follow-up on RFIs and submittals
- Apply cost escalation factors to develop future expected costs
- Attend project meetings, such as pre-bids, project handoffs, and closeouts, as well as any other ad hoc meetings

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or related field, or equivalent experience in construction and estimating
- Construction or engineering experience (Civil construction preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
- Valid Driver’s License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with cost estimating software; HCSS Heavybid is a plus
- Experience with CAD tools such as Civil 3D, Revit, or similar
- Familiar with NCDOT jobs, specifications, and requirements
