WGN-TV is a division of Nexstar Media Group and the Creative Services group provides in-house creative and marketing needs for WGN-TV, Channel 9 and Antenna TV. We are offering a full-time opportunity to an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Art Director to be an integral part of the Creative Services group.
Acts as Art Director for WGN-TV and Antenna TV responsible for managing all the motion, print, and digital designs and animation for promos, packaging and other on-air/digital assets. You will be developing and conceiving, designing and executing a team within multiple brands, including WGN News, under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- The Art Director position is a multifaceted role that provides leadership and design expertise, as well as providing graphic support for on-air, print, online, and social requirements.
- You will work closely with the Creative Director on future planning and long-range goals. This position will drive the image of the brand and develop a cohesive, innovative look and tone to viewers and client initiatives across multiple platforms.
- Design and execute any and all on-air and print graphics and compositions for stations promotions activities and broadcasts. Work with WGN News Director and assigned Producers to develop infographics and news graphics for stations newscast. Work with Creative Services Writers, Producers, and Production teams to skillfully develop any needed graphics for Promotions and/or campaigns
- To design and collaborate, as directed by Creative Director, any promotional graphics and designs including on-air stills/motion, web, print, outdoor advertising including any collateral used by the sales department for presentations to advertisers.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Requires an undergraduate degree in graphic arts or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to create and evaluate graphic talent and provide leadership to graphic artists.
- Designs and animations will be developed using current state-of-the-art equipment and must be able to use graphic design and animation software to develop promotions and “sell” programming to viewers and advertisers.
- Must be skilled in After Effects, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software and be skilled with Cinema 4D or like 3D software.
- Must also have a keen sense of current standards in television and print design.
- Requires 4-6 years’ experience at a TV station or Post-Production facility.
