- 1. Directly supervises employees in the Lab.
2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Oversees daily operation of laboratory services.
- Responsible for personnel management, communication with clients, communication with corporate management as well as vendors and suppliers. Personnel management to include evaluation and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for compliance with certifying and accrediting agencies.
- Analyses effectiveness and efficiency of laboratory operation.
- Consults with clients, physicians, and laboratory staff regarding technical issues concerning the clinical laboratory.
- Operates, Maintains, Calibrates and performs quality control procedures on laboratory equipment instruments and manual procedures.
- Evaluates validity of laboratory results based on results of quality control materials.
- Evaluates instrument operational problems.
- Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting, on laboratory instruments such as hematology analyzers, automated chemistry and immuno-chemistry analyzers, coagulation analyzers, microbiology instruments, centrifuges, incubators, microscopes and other laboratory instruments.
- Work with manufacturer’s call center to troubleshoot and repair laboratory instrumentation.
- Reports patient results, maintains laboratory information and filing systems.
- Maintains and updates policies, standards and manuals.
- Provides consultative services regarding laboratory procedures, test results and examinations to physicians, clients, laboratory staff and others using the laboratory facility.
- Reviews and interprets laboratory results and data.
- Trains other personnel in performing standardized laboratory analysis, quality control and instrument maintenance.
- Directs and advises personnel in special test procedures.
- Compiles and analyzes test information to determine operating efficiency of process or equipment and to diagnose malfunctions.
- Tests and analyzes patient samples.
- Prepares test solutions, and reagents for use by laboratory personnel in conducting tests.
- Establishes or adjusts work flow and procedures to meet testing schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve testing procedures and use of equipment.
- Analyzes and resolves or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains time and testing records.
