We are currently taking applications for an organized and reliable Accounting Clerk to join our growing organization. Preference will be given to applicants with employee benefits and/or human resource experience.
Job Summary
The main responsibility of the Accounting Clerk is to assist the Accounting Manager with data entry, reconciliations, payables, filing, greeting customers, answering phones, maintaining personnel files, benefits management, time tracking/payroll assistance, creating job forms and other administrative type duties. This position will start at approximately 25 hours per week with the possibility of full-time in the future.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide customer support through answering phones and greeting customers as they enter the facility
- Accounts Payable
- Bank/Credit Card Reconciliations
- Process closed Purchase Orders and reconcile to open vendor invoices
- Assist Management in organizing employee travel expense reports and receipts
- Maintain personnel files
- Manage employee benefits
- Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.
- Provide additional clerical and administrative support to management
Tasks
- Verify accuracy of data and revise any errors.
- Resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
- Type billing documents, shipping labels, credit memorandums, or credit forms, using computers.
- Contact vendors to obtain or relay account information.
- Review documents, such as purchase orders
- Maintain financial or account records and support documents
- Operate typing, adding, calculating, or billing machines
- Decision making that impact the results of co-workers, clients or the company
- Decision making that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization
Requirements
- General working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop Software
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and internet
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to a dynamic and ever-changing environment
- Attention to detail and highly accurate
- Meticulous organizational skills and time management skills to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced office environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Must have reliable transportation, or arrangements to meet attendance requirements for the position.
- Must be able to pass a background review prior to being accepted for employment by the company.
Education and Experience
- 1-year previous experience in bookkeeping for a small business(s)
- Completion of High School Diploma or GED is required
- Preferred employee benefits and/or human resource experience.
