What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wireless Field Technician position at TrueNet Communications?

The Field Technician is responsible for the proper installation, operation, testing, maintenance and optimal performance of equipment associated with wireless network. This position offers technical expertise with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting services for specific products as needed. (This purpose is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon client.)

 

Responsibilities:

  • installation of RF/Wireless equipment on light poles and wood utility poles. 
  • Ability to perform installation work, such as installing cables, radios in equipment cabinet. 
  • Understanding of equipment and inventory. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot RF and Fiber line issues on Small Cell cabinets or poles. 
  • Reads and interprets work orders to determine work to be done, as well as completing paperwork for jobs that are finished. 
  • Read prints and wire cabinets and run/label fiber jumpers in hub.
  • Set up safety in work zone according to prints on TCP (Traffic Control Plan)
  • Follow safety rules and practices, complying with OSHA standards. 
  • Ability to work in and operate bucket truck at heights up to 42’. 
  • Analyzing work orders, planning daily  schedule, investigating complaints, conducting tests, and resolving problems. 
  • Install and perform maintenance on customer’s OEM equipment. 
  • Ensure personal equipment operates properly by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. 
  • Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records. 
  • Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential. 
  • Coordinate customer contact, access to customer premises, and customer test and acceptance on small and medium jobs.
  • Test installed system for adherence to specifications and evaluate reception. 
  • Maintain vehicle and installation/service parts inventory. Keep workplace clean and organized. Submit required reports in a timely fashion. Ensure that the highest quality of service is provided to promote superior customer satisfaction.
  • Attend formal or informal training to maintain/upgrade knowledge, skill, and performance levels. 
  • Build upon knowledge base by reading professional publications. 
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s/Technical degree preferred.
  • 2 years’ experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting specified product or service.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a bucket truck and/or lifts to 47 feet.
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to utilize various programs and software dependent up on client required.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve required.
  • Analytical ability and an interest in learning new technologies.
  • Ability to utilize hand and power tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Walk continuously throughout the jobsite while carrying ladders, tools, and installation materials.
  • Repeatedly ascend and descend ladders.
  • Must be able to work and travel in various weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting within the work area.
  • Lifting of up to 90-60 pounds one-third of the time.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, peers, etc..

  • This is a field positions and requires 100% travel within a market. Travel includes significant drive time.
  • Most work is completed outdoors – in any/all weather conditions.
  • The work environment is that of a remote/warehouse position with minimal to high noise levels.
  • The position requires working independently, as well as part of a team.
  • This position requires verbal and face-to-face contact with others daily.
  • Frequent use of a computer is necessary.
  • This position requires use of all general office equipment.
