Access Services Assistant
Job Responsibilities
This position will provide customer service to patrons at the Library Service Desk, assist with the supervision and training of department student workers. Manage ILL lending services, process Reserve requests, and run daily operations reports. Includes weekend, holiday, and evening shifts as needed. Reports to the Head of Access Services.
Responsibilities
- Staff the Library Service Desk and assist patrons in the use of library resources and services. Explain and enforce library policies and procedures. Issue guest internet accounts and create and update Community Borrower cards.
- Assist with the supervision and training of student workers in the department and develops training program in collaboration with the department head. Set daily task priorities for student workers at the Library Service Desk.
- Manage ILL lending requests using OCLC, CLIO and other systems as developed.
- Process Reserve requests and interact with faculty about copyright and other issues related to Reserves.
- Oversee daily operations reports (bills and overdue notices) and daily MOBIUS shipments.
- Manage the public Print, Scan, Copy area and perform basic maintenance on public and departmental equipment such as copiers, scanners, and microfilm machines.
- Assist with the promotion of library resources and services, including the development of student engagement programming and promotional content in collaboration with other public service staff.
- Process student withdrawals and faculty/staff clearance forms; use Banner to update student ID information and to place library holds.
- Oversee library accounts for JBA and Upward Bound participants; works closely with department head for the maintenance of other patron accounts.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to complete tasks with accuracy.
- Strong service orientation and the ability to use tact and good judgment in dealing with patrons and staff.
- Proficiency with office productivity software with the ability to learn additional programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework.
- Supervisory experience.
- Prior library experience.
- Familiarity with the use of social media for marketing and promotion.

Salary
The wage for this position starts at $15.35 hourly.
