Position Summary:

As an Operational Accountant, you will be a vital member of the Trupanion FinOps team, primarily focused on supporting our Accounts Payable operations through this period of unprecedented growth. Key Responsibilities Include:

As the Operational Accountant you will support the FinOps team in the following areas:

  • Provide ancillary and backup support to the Trupanion AP team across all functions.
  • Partner in supporting continuous improvements in execution across all operational processes including, vendor management, cash forecasting, payments, etc.
  • Assist in the implementation of new solutions and processes to support Trupanion’s 1099 and Unclaimed Property reporting.
  • Follow internal controls for job duties according to SOX narratives.
  • Promote basic accounting principles and support the Finance team in monthly accounting close process.
  • Support Finance team in meeting internal and external reporting timelines by preparing deliverables for reporting team, FP&A, and external tax and audit professionals as requested.
  • Communicate optimally with the finance team as well as others throughout the organization for matters relating to role and responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting preferred

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience; public company experience a plus

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail are a must
  • Consistent record of thinking critically and tackling problems in the workplace
  • Strong written and verbal communication demonstrated throughout all levels of the organization
  • Capable of researching issues independently
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment and achieve results through influencing and holding team members accountable
