BOILER TENDER
SUMMARY
The Boiler Tender tends one or more boilers to produce steam or high temperature water for use in an establishment at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and tends one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water for use in an establishment.
- Tends centrifugal chillers.
- Fires boiler.
- Observes and interprets readings on gauges, meters, charts which register various aspects of boiler operations.
- Adjusts controls to insure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high-temperature water.
- May also do one or more of the following: Maintain a log in which various aspects of boiler operation are recorded; clean oil, make minor repairs or assist in repair to boiler room equipment; and following prescribed methods, treat boiler water with chemicals and analyze boiler water for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity.
- Employees are required to drive company owned vehicles on a Federal Installation.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with boiler systems or must have completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent formal vocational/technical training program in operating boiler systems.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must maintain required city/county/state license(s) where applicable.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.
