Position Title: Amphitheatre Wardrobe Crew
Department: Costume Shop
Position Summary
The Wardrobe Crew will run dresser tracks backstage in an outdoor setting, including all pre-sets and dressing cues. Pre and post-show duties include steaming, ironing, and spraying costumes for all shows.
Responsibilities
- Assemble/pre-set costumes prior to performances
- Assist the performers with quick changes
- Maintain all paperwork assigned by the Wardrobe Lead
- Check daily that all assigned costumes are checked out/in as required
- Iron/steam costume items as needed
- Spray out costumes daily as assigned
- Perform quick repairs if needed during performances
- Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association
- Work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
- Clean and maintain all spaces daily
- Maintain flexible schedule for work calls during tech weeks
- Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment
- Contributes to the overall success of the Production Department by performing any additional duties and responsibilities assigned
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work outside in a hot dry desert climate
- Ability to collaborate with the wardrobe team to run backstage tracks
- Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team environment to complete the assigned tasks
- Ability to help actors with quick changes, as an individual and as part of a team
- Stays alert, specially when backstage
- Works well in a fast paced and high pressure environment
- Must be able to run short distances and use stairs both while carrying a laundry basket with items inside
- Must be able to stand for the length of a show
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
- Basic hand stitching for quick repairs
Bonus Qualifications
- 2 years of professional work experience in a live theatrical environment as a wardrobe crew member or Stitcher or equivalent educational experience
- Skilled knowledge of hand and/or machine stitching techniques
- Knowledge of shoe repair
- Experience in a variety of costume construction techniques including quick rigging
Other Details:
2024 Season shows include Frozen, Anastasia, and Jersey Boys.
Contract Dates: 4/16/2024 - 10/20/2024
Salary/Rate: $19.50 per hour plus overtime
Housing is available at $50 per week.
