Position Overview
We are searching for a passionate and detail-oriented assistant technical designer to join the Tuckernuck team. In this role, you will assist the technical design team in preparing for fittings, data entry, and supporting technical design work. You will be a key player in the sample fitting process and recommend fit changes for product production. A successful assistant technical designer will be passionate, fashion-forward, and possess great technical acumen. Ideal candidates should be deadline-driven, have a keen eye for detail, and demonstrate sound knowledge of industry-related software.
Core Responsibilities
- Attend fittings for several product categories and assist by taking fit notes and collaborating over fit corrections with Technical Designer
- Assist with the organizations of samples prior to fittings; including steaming, taking detailed garment photos, and reviewing garments for prior fit corrections
- Adhere to the quality control requirements and standards
- Evaluate prototypes and inspect finished products with Technical Designer to ensure that they are free from defects and inline with product specifications and Tuckernuck standards
- Measure garments from prototype to final sample stage and final production. Keep detailed records of measurement in tech packs
- Ability to create detailed CADs for collection development and line plans
- Stay up to date with the latest techniques in the development of garments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Internship or 1 year of related experience in technical or fashion design
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of pattern making and garment construction;
- The ability to justify design changes and possess excellent problem solving skills;
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills;
- Deadline-driven and committed to quality;
- Practical experience with software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD.
