Job Title: Children’s Program Supervisor

Job type: Part-time(Non-exempt), temporary

Hours: 8-12 hours per week

Hourly Rate: $33.00/hour

Location: Chicago; In-Person; Some hybrid flex work

Organization Overview -

Tuesday’s Child is a nonprofit organization started in 1980 at Children’s Memorial Hospital by Dr. Victoria Lavigne (Clinical Child Psychologist) and Katherine Augustyn (Early Childhood Specialist). The behavior intervention program offered by Tuesday’s Child is designed for families with young children ages 18 months through 6 years. By combining parent coaching and education and a child-centered program, Tuesday’s Child gives families the tools they need for healthy functioning and connection.

Job Summary -

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Children’s Program Supervisor manages the children’s classroom to ensure that all children enrolled in programming receive high-quality, evidence-based behavioral support services.

Essential Duties

Behavior Intervention Program (Core) Responsibilities -

  • Oversee the children’s program classroom to ensure appropriate implementation of organizational programming, protocols, and procedures, including protocols and procedures to maintain student, employee, intern, and volunteer safety.
  • Administer relevant developmental screenings for students and provide data to appropriate personnel to inform client care and post-program referrals/ recommendations.
  • Design and implement data collection systems to track and monitor student progress.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to create individual positive behavior intervention recommendations for students, review student progress, and discuss appropriate referrals.
  • Prepare and share relevant material and information for team meetings, including meetings with students’ parents.
  • Collaborate with children’s schools and other care/service providers to ensure the child and family receive the highest level of care.

Management Responsibilities -

  • Manage all classroom activities, including day-to-day schedules, set-up, and cleaning in accordance with local health regulations.
  • Perform regular inspection of classroom materials to ensure physical safety.
  • Provide training in Tuesday’s Child’s methodology for all newly hired children’s program assistants and undergraduate interns.
  • Supervise and coach children’s program assistants and undergraduate interns as they implement positive behavior support strategies and perform data collection in the children’s classroom.
  • Empower children’s program assistants and undergraduate interns to create lesson plans and activities focusing on social-emotional learning and development for the children’s classroom.
  • Assist the Managing Director to Interview and hire undergraduate interns for the children’s program.
  • Supervise undergraduate interns for the children’s program, including running weekly small-group supervision meetings following Tuesday’s Child’s internship curriculum.
  • Conduct intern evaluations, including any specific evaluation materials required by each intern’s college program.
  • Store, maintain, and discard all paper and electronic materials, records, reports, and correspondence related to the children’s program in accordance with Tuesday’s Child’s confidentiality policy and the State of Illinois regulations for record keeping.
  • Maintain inventory of classroom materials and supplies, including informing the Managing Director if new materials or supplies are required.

Required Qualifications -

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s program will also be considered.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience.
  • Previous supervisory and management experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certified.

Desired Qualifications -

  • Registered Behavior Technician or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst
  • Learning Behavior Specialist
