What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Fellow, River Coastal Science and Engineering - Ecohydrological Modeling of Saline Environments >>> position at Tulane University School of Medicine?
The Department of River-Coastal Science and Engineering at Tulane University, New Orleans, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in Ecohydrological Modeling of Saline Environments.
The anticipated start date for the position is between May 1 and September 30, 2022. Appointments are for one year, with the possibility of renewal depending upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
The position will be centered on modeling climate-plant-water interactions in salt-affected ecosystems, with a specific focus on coastal wetlands and their vulnerability to sea-level rise and salinization. The work will require developing simplified models of the plant hydraulics under osmotic stress and designing their upscaling to larger (plot up to ecosystem) scales for hydrologic and climate modeling applications. Prior experience with the parametrization of plant hydraulic traits and stochastic modeling, and familiarity with eddy covariance methods and data are strongly preferred.
River-Coastal Science & Engineering is a diverse and welcoming community of scientists with excellent scholarship across the civil, environmental, and coastal ocean engineering disciplines with elements of geosciences and ecological sciences. The department focuses on the world’s river, deltaic and coastal systems using the combined science and engineering approach.
In line with the cross disciplinary nature of the Department, the candidate will be expected to build strong links with collaborators in the Departments of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University and the Tulane ByWater Institute.
The Department of River-Coastal Science & Engineering at Tulane University values diversity in all forms and is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. Candidates passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion with overlapping scientific interests are encouraged to apply.
Tulane is a private, Research I University and a member of the 63 prestigious Association of American Universities. Tulane is a collegial, collaborative, and stimulating environment for learning and research and is ranked among the top 40 universities by US News Report.
New Orleans is a beautiful, vibrant, multicultural, and truly unique city in which to work and live.
