Position Summary:
Provide guidance to current and prospective students and parents regarding the financial aid application process by answering any questions they may have while determining the eligibility of each student.
Responsibilities:
• Interview applicants and request specified information regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures
• Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, costs, indebtedness, money management and financial planning and individualizes information to the particular needs and situation of the student
• Accept financial aid applications and forms; review for completeness and accuracy; and verify information reported on student applications to determine eligibility for awards
• Set deadlines and create accountability with applicants
• Awards financial aid according to regulations, guidelines, and policies
• Interpret, apply and comply with federal, state and institutional regulations governing student financial aid
• Maintain current working knowledge of guidelines/regulations related to financial aid
• Maintain a close working relationship with Admissions, as well as all other institutional departments
• Participate in all Student Finance meetings and events as assigned
• Provide exemplary customer service by responding to all inquiries regarding financial aid programs and eligibility in a timely manner
Required Knowledge, Education and Experience
• Minimum of 2 years customer service experience, and 1 or more years of direct Financial Aid experience. Associates Degree or higher preferred. Displays consistent knowledge of policies and procedures. Consistently prompt for work and maintains a good working relationship with team members and
interdepartmental employees.
Physical Environment:
• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
• Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment
• Stooping, bending twisting, and reaching may be required
• Some work may be completed in classroom or shop environmen
