This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act,8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. FTT will require proof of status prior to employment.

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The engineer will have 8 years of background and responsibility for the design, integration, and test of data acquisition systems associated with gas turbine engines and components. The engineer shall also have experience with control theory and software implementation of control systems for gas turbine engines and/or associated test equipment and rigs. Experience with gas turbine engines or associated hardware testing is required. LabVIEW experience is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Applies knowledge of electronic control systems to engine and engine component tests. Designs and assists in the development of new electro-mechanical systems and prototypes.
  • Responsible for interpreting requirements, building data acquisition and control architectures, developing LabVIEW VI and control software, supporting testing and validation of products and prototypes.
  • Uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Control System Software Design and Development
  • Engine/Component Test Support
  • Support the design and development of the test instrumentation, integration, and data acquisition systems.
  • Create, test, and validate the LabVIEW based control and VI for the command and control center.
  • Experience with gas turbine testing and components
  • Experience with data acquisition and control
  • Experience with automated systems, actuators, valves, etc.
  • Programming experience required, especially LabVIEW development environment.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a testing environment to develop control systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic small-company environment.
  • Ability to engage industry experts, apply and integrate knowledge of other related engineering areas or experts to own area of expertise.
  • Control engineering or systems engineering work experience
  • Experience in developing test cases and test procedures
  • Demonstrated systems engineering approach to manage production or development programs.
  • Ability to capture requirements from customers and stakeholders and effectively estimate, communicate, and track integrated product team progress.
  • Ability to collaborate with program managers, customers, and team members to assist in developing products that meet requirements.
  • Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the assigned duties, including computer skills.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by company and government requirements.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with peers, supervisors, and public, including maintaining respect for others, and following company policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

None.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical or Controls Engineering from an accredited school
  • 8 years experience
