Job Description
The Capital Quantity Surveyor will work with the site Capital Lead, Program/Project Managers and Project Engineers across the site self-directed work teams and hub teams to support the delivery of operational and capital projects.
Pre-Contract:
- Accurately taking off and measuring contract/tender Bills of Quantities
- Cost planning and estimating
- Value engineering
- Client management
- Ability to review and explain varying forms of contract and clauses, primarily RIAI contracts (if here in Ireland)
- Ability to decipher drawings
- Ability to understand items required but not yet designed
- Preparation and issue of tender/contract packages to the market
- Ability to co-ordinate and manage tender reviews and contractor submissions
- Preparation of tender reports including value engineering
- Preparation of cost reports detailing returned tenders versus control budgets
- Ability to use lessons learned to strengthen tender documentation and project budgets.
- Finalisation and issue of contract sums and packages
Post Contract:
- Receive and review interim applications
- Make recommendations against interim applications
- Ability to communicate efficiently within the construction team
- Measurement, valuation and agreement of variations
- Value engineering reviews and proposals
- Maintain variations log
- Produce monthly commercial report detailing contract progression and forecasted final accounts
- Regular pro-active communication with contractors
- Ability to maintain the contract for the project duration
- Advise team on commercial aspects of contract as the works proceed
- Complete final remeasures
- Complete final accounts and final recommendations.
Qualifications
- RICS-accredited degree or equivalent
- 5 plus years of relevant experience $50M projects, in pharmaceutical sector - multiple areas of expertise preferred - CSA/Electrical/Process Mechanical/HVAC/Piping/Utilities.
- College and/or post-graduate degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering or field related to construction.
- Experience of leading cost management on medium or large sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
- US experience is strongly desirable.
