This is a unique opportunity to serve as a key legal advisor to the Vice President and executive team while providing high-level legal oversight for all aspects of our business.

Candidates located within driving distance of Topeka are preferred, but this is not required.

Position Overview: Corporate Counsel

You’ll report directly to the President and work cross-functionally with leadership across Sales, HR, Engineering, and Operations. You’ll serve as a member of the executive team, offering legal insight on key decisions and participating in strategic discussions that impact the company’s future.

Your responsibilities will span proactive legal guidance, contract oversight, compliance, litigation, and risk management. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for legal matters across the company, as well as a liaison to the HF Group’s legal leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contract Management – Primary focus of the role. Handle drafting, negotiation, and risk review of commercial contracts. Approximately 8–12 contracts per year.

• Litigation Management – Coordinate litigation efforts with insurance carriers and outside counsel as needed.

• HR Legal Guidance – Advise on employment law, policy interpretation, investigations, and risk mitigation.

• Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure compliance with federal and international regulations, including working with the HF Group on policy alignment.

• Corporate Governance – Support board documentation, filings, and corporate recordkeeping.

• IP & Confidentiality – Monitor trademarks, confidentiality terms, and non-compete/non-disclosure agreements.

• Outside Counsel Management – Serve as the gatekeeper for external legal support; manage vendor relationships, billing, and scope.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Kansas, or eligible for a Kansas in-house counsel registration.

• Minimum 8 years of legal experience, including 3 years in-house preferred

• Strong background in contract law and general corporate matters

• Manufacturing industry experience is helpful but not required; we're open to candidates with strong in-house experience and the ability to learn our industry

• International contract experience is a plus, but not required
