What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fundraising Specialist position at Twin Cities PBS (TPT)?
To market, develop, and strengthen Twin Cities PBS’s community support from individuals through telemarketing fundraising efforts that produce maximum revenue and provide excellent customer service to ensure loyalty.
Salary: $15 per hour commissions
- Contact existing, potential and lapsed supporters via telephone to inform them of current campaigns and solicit appropriate assistance in accordance with the TPT brief and script structure, while manages call time for maximum revenue benefit for Twin Cities PBS.
- Meet & exceed fundraising targets set by the team leader and the manager, while ensuring calls are of the highest quality. Contributes to corporate productivity regularly by increasing expertise and efficiency.
- Attend campaign briefings and adhere to the objectives of campaigns within the phone call to our donors.
- Input bank details, supporter information and data capture whilst ensuring close attention to detail and accurate recording in TelAthena software.
- Fulfills agreed upon work schedule consistently.
- Continually enhances sales skills through ongoing activities coaching, self-evaluation and seeking training and development resources available.
- Recognizes and responds effectively to unexpected situations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Review all sources of information to quickly provide accurate information to the member or potential member.
- Present a highly professional image of Twin Cities PBS to all stakeholders, through verbal, personal and written interactions. Represent, enhance and promote the TPT brand in a positive, professional and effective manner.
- Support viewer and member questions and concerns in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
- Continually improve the telemarketing program being aware of emerging trends and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Ensure that all data is handled with sensitivity and in accordance with Data Protection legislation and financial good practice.
- Complete other tasks as assigned.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Innovative/Entrepreneurial/Resourceful
- 1-2 years experience of using the telephone in either telemarketing or to promote business or work, or canvassing experience.
- History of successful teamwork and relationship building
- A resilient spirit with a track record of learning from successes as well as challenges
- Experience of working in a team to achieve shared objectives.
- Experience handling several fast-paced, concurrent projects and assignments
- Strong donor cultivation orientation
Preferred Experience
- TelAthena software experience or other phone sales software experience
- Multifaceted telemarketing program experience within the nonprofit industry in high volume outbound fundraising, renewal, upselling campaigns and/or cold calling

- Must be comfortable interacting with external members and high-profile donors presenting and persuading individuals of the power of public media.
- Ability to work unsociable hours as a key requirement of the job and comfortable relating to an audience of diverse people and personalities
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, time sensitive production environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.
