REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Behavioral Support Services
SUPERVISES: n/a
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree;
2. Valid Teaching certificate with at least 5 years successful teaching experience;
3. Demonstrated experience working with students with behavior difficulties;
4. TBSI and CPI Certification;
5. Experience developing behavior intervention strategies for home, community, and school;
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provides assistance to teachers and campus personnel in supporting positive student behavior through
Positive Behavior Intervention Supports and tiered behavioral interventions
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Administrative/Professional Pay Grade 2, 192 days
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Works with faculty and encourages student input to develop a student management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances school climate
2. Encourages plans for improved student behavior that reflects enhanced opportunities for learning
3. Assist teachers in identifying student behavior problems, suggesting intervention strategies, implementing intervention strategies, and monitoring progress
4. Assists in the development and implementation of individual behavior plans through consultation with the Student Success Team
5. Provides technical assistance to campuses for implementing school-wide PBIS systems
6. Assists in developing training programs and in-service for teachers and staff
7. Provides technical assistance to Student Success Teams for Tier 2-3 students, including conducting functional behavior assessments, providing behavior intervention, and monitoring progress
8. Provides technical assistance and coaching for effective classroom management
9. Conducts classroom observations and personal interviews as needed
10. Evaluate student progress and determines modifications to support individual student behavior plans
11. Supports the premise that school rules are uniformly observed and that consequences of misconduct are applied equitably to all students
12. Collects and organizes relevant data from student cumulative folders, classroom teachers, principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource representatives, as needed to support student behavior action plans
13. Shares or assumes responsibility of confidential documents
14. Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
15. Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district
16. Maintains a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and colleagues
17. Deals sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds
18. Complies with all district and local campus routines and regulations, as well as policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local Board of Trustees in the area of student behavior management
19. Effectively communicates with colleagues, students and parents
20. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills
21. Performs duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators
22. Articulates the district mission to the community; solicits its support in realizing the mission
23. Completes assignments promptly and thoroughly, and attends to details accurately and efficiently
24. Annually establishes and meets performance goals
25. Performs other tasks and assumes such responsibilities as related to the position and as assigned
EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, phone, fax, copier, printer, and other equipment as needed
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written, maintain emotional control under stress
Physical Demands: Moderate stooping, standing, bending and lifting; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; frequent district wide travel; prolonged and irregular hours.
