- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities
- Develops and coordinates the Infection Prevention and Control Program throughout the facility in conjunction with the Corporate Infection Prevention and Control council.
- Responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections.
- Facilitates compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements including local, state, and federal requirements.
- Collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies by researching/developing appropriate policies/procedures, using current epidemiologic principles, overseeing infection related surveillance for healthcare associated infections, and managing outbreak investigations.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Two (2) years of hospital clinical experience or one (1) years experience with quality, infection prevention, and/or performance improvement in addition to tertiary education
- Experience in data abstraction or use of the electronic medical record
- Associate-Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) recommended within 1 year of hiring to the position
- Certification in infection prevention (CIC) within 4 years of hiring to position
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing or Clinical Laboratory Sciences (Medical Technologist) preferred or successful completion of tertiary education in Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology or other healthcare related field
- APIC membership
