OVERVIEW

The Program Coordinator will support the Microenterprise Development (MED) Program in the Erie office through funding by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

 and foundations

. The MED Program helps refugees

 and immigrants

 to become economically self-sufficient, by

assisting

 them to 

establish

small 

businesses through the provision of loans, training a

nd techni

cal 

assist

ance

, and support in building credit history and/or repairing credit scores. The position w

ill 

re

port

 to the Field Office Director.


ESSENTIAL 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the management of a major federal grant by implementing the project in the field;

  2. Establish and maintain written lending policies and procedures as well as practices for collecting and servicing loan repayment;

  3. Guide the program development and establish partnership plans;

  4. Coordinate the recruiting of participants and oversee the registration and eligibility process;

  5. Assess participants credit history;

  6. Manage monthly financial data and case files of participants;

  7. Facilitate training and technical assistance;

  8. Provide technical assistance to participants on budgeting, saving, developing business plans, implementing business plans, and paying back loans;

  9. Create and implement loan dispersal and management plans;

  10. Disperse loans and assist participants to manage these loans;

  11. Monitor participant progress;

  12. Liaise with community partners;

  13. Collect and manage participant data and complete reporting;

  14. Monitor and evaluate program; and

  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree is required in Business or related field; 

    Master's

     degree preferred in Business or a related field from an accredited institution;

  2. Experience in managing MED programs, micro-finance, microenterprise development, or a similar field preferred;

  3. Extensive experience creating business proposals and evaluating the soundness of business proposals;

  4. Extensive experience with program monitoring and evaluation;

  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to organize, prioritize and work independently, as well as in collaboration with others to meet competing deadlines are required;

  6. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database programs;

  7. Must have financial management skills such as analyzing and interpreting financial data;

  8. Experience providing relief services overseas and/or resettlement services domestically to refugees, asylees, and other at-risk groups preferred. Foreign language ability desirable; 

  9. Must pass a criminal background and other screening requirements; and

  10. Demonstrated support of USCRI's values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace and a with a dedication to human rights, including of trafficking victims, refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and vulnerable or disenfranchised populations.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  1. Satisfactory completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training; and

  2. Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;

  2. Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands;

  3. Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying; and

  4. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
