The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of all plant maintenance work and purchasing functions. This role will serve as an active player/coach within the maintenance team, both administering jobs, sourcing parts, building kits, and planning work. The role will be responsible for assistance with Maintenance Management software (JDE) operations and coordination of purchasing activities as they relate to the successful operation of the facility, and for maintaining appropriate spare parts and consumable inventory levels. The Maintenance Planner must be well-versed in maintenance tools/techniques and be able to facilitate training for other company employees in maintenance fundamentals. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activities
- Often serves as the liaison between Maintenance and Operations to prioritize and coordinate work
- Stages parts and other preparation for maintenance jobs
- Develops and maintains a work plan and schedule
- Ensures that JDE software data files are complete and current
- Assists with inventory and purchasing functions
- Identifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots equipment maintenance problems
- Reviews daily Stores Issues Report to confirm accuracy
- Conducts daily review of performed maintenance tasks
- Conducts monthly inventory cycle counts
- Receives incoming shipments and invoices
- Organizes and categorizes storeroom parts and equipment
- Performs purchasing to support efficient plant operations
- Utilizes JD Edwards to enter purchase requisitions and purchase orders
- Works with vendors to find optimal pricing and delivery options
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years in front line maintenance experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance program elements and methods
- Able to give firm direction in day to day assignments to maintenance personnel
- Willing to engage all plant personnel to complete maintenance tasks
- Ability to approach problems analytically based on a strong foundation of practical experience
