In this role, a typical day will include:
• Supporting the business of our customers through efficient, effective and innovative science and solutions.
• Assisting in the design, development, testing and implementation of science processes to meet the needs of new and existing products.
• Applying basic principles of scientific analysis to provide solutions to rudimentary problems arising within the department.
• Devising research methods, preparing technical specifications, and specifying laboratory test equipment and processes
• Making recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technological equipment and materials
• May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications
• Coordinating pilot-plant or initial production runs on new products or processes
• Data-driven application of scientific and engineering skills to provide quality data to support project teams in the achievement of milestones.
• Results-oriented; timely completion and effective communication of experimental results and conclusions.
• Exhibits a high level of learning agility, with sustained energy and passion for excellence in experimental execution and material characterization.
• Effective collaboration with cross functional team members.
• Compliance with all regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.
• Adds value through effective and clear communication of information to internal or external contacts.
• Internal interaction mainly requires exchange of factual information.
• Requires broad awareness of the roles of immediate team members and/or function.
Experience
• Master's degree 2 year or Bachelor's degree 5 year, in Chemistry or relevant discipline
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in eye drops formulation (such as solution and emulsion) and ophthalmic biomaterials
• Solid aseptic operation experience and cGxP experience required.
• Understands applied practice, concepts and processes in a relatively narrowly defined discipline, field or functional area.
• Operates within established guidelines, solving limited non-routine problems. (Majority of problems is known and solutions are defined.)
• Experience in material characterization using appropriate analytical techniques, such as particle sizer and rheological testing is a referred.
• Experienced in formulation and solution preparation at lab and pilot scale is preferred.
• Good communication skills, proficient technical writing and presentation skills.
What You'll Bring to Alcon:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school 8 yrs; Assoc. 4 yrs)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
