Job Summary
The Transplant Analyst is responsible for comprehensive medical record review and analysis to determine the appropriateness of pre-transplant evaluation charges for inclusion on the Medicare Cost Report. The Transplant Analyst also provides routine analysis and data collection for the Transplant Center. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Prior experience in the review and abstraction of clinical data from hospital medical records.
- Prior experience/education with ICD-9 coding practices.
- Prior experience with preparation for regulatory audits.
- Ability to analyze data from a variety of sources and present information in an understandable and appropriate format.
- Working knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical procedures sufficient to perform medical chart reviews for collection of transplant information and transplant complications.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities and meet required deadlines according to federal regulations and/or department protocols.
- Detail oriented with ability to recognize and analyze discrepancies and make appropriate corrections.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills necessary for participation in department Finance and/or CQI meetings, federally mandated transplant audits (UNOS and CMS) and communication with transplant faculty and clinical team.
- Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel in order to maintain department lists or meeting minutes, create forms and create/or maintain Excel spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals, including coworkers, patients, families, physicians and other outside agencies.
- Excellent attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in medical billing, financial clearance, data analysis, and/or solid organ transplant.

Department Overview
The Transplant Center is a UCDHS clinical center responsible for the centralized administrative management and coordination of pre and post transplant patient care to UCDHS patients requiring solid organ transplants. This centralized office also includes the management of our outpatient clinic located in the Cypress Building.
