Responsibilities
The General Accountant 2 performs professional accounting and financial duties for the Health System. Under direction, plans, develops and coordinates professional financial analysis using broad knowledge of general ledger and budgetary systems, accounting, and healthcare financial practices. Prepares financial analyses and reports including variance analysis reports, financial statements, and other ad-hoc financial reports for presenting to various levels of personnel, from departmental staff to senior management. Provides support to improve finance processes. Acts as a general accounting liaison to various departments on an assortment of multifaceted projects, including system implementations, process designs and redesigns, and financial system training. Prepares workflows and recommendations to assist the organization in improving Health System general accounting recording and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- One to three years of accounting experience
- Knowledge of financial transactions and financial systems
- Knowledge of GAAP theories and practices
- Knowledge analysis of moderate accounting projects
- Strong MS Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Visio
- Intermediate skill set in Microsoft Excel, including (but not limited to) Pivots, Sumifs, IFs, and Vlookups
- Intermediate experience with general ledger accounting transactions
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in use of common desktop/web applications
- Ability to apply more advanced accounting concepts in the completion of assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license or CPA candidate
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related filed and/or equivalent experience and training
