Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

Oversees and manages the planning, organization, and supervision of inpatient Physical, Occupational, Speech therapist and hospital assistants at UCI - Irvine. Coordinates educational and/or research programs, monitors compliance of Rehabilitation coworkers with patient care and service delivery standards. Formulates department objectives, policies and procedures. Responsible for program development, productivity analysis, collection of statistical information, budget impact analysis and management of goals and objectives.

Attend case conferences/ discharge rounds as needed. Delivers direct patient care on a limited basis as required. If assigned to work with infants and children aged 0 to 21, CCS paneling/approval will be required within one year of hire if qualify for CCS paneling requirement. Attends discharge planning meeting for children with discharge needs applicable to the discipline. Assures that the non-CCS paneled therapists will be supervised by a CCS paneled therapist for the care provided to children aged 0-21. Participates in care coordination activities when children are being discharged with therapy and coordinates the transfer of care to the CCS Medical Therapy Units in the school system as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to plan strategically
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum three (3) years’ supervisory/managerial experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ clinical experience in physical/occupational therapy required, including 5 years of clinical experience in hospital setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to read and correctly interpret complex regulations, contracts and policies
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
