What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner BMT and Cellular Therapy position at UCSF Health?
Join a highly skilled, dynamic group of APPs in the outpatient clinic in our Hematology, Blood & Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies department at the Parnassus campus of UCSF Health. Our acclaimed program draws patients from around the world seeking effective and innovative therapies to treat their underlying blood disorders or blood cancers. Our patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, or cellular therapies for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
In this position, the APP would work primarily in the outpatient clinic 4 days a week for 10 hours a shift, taking care of patients who have an underlying non-malignant blood disorder. They will primarily act as an independent billing provider seeing follow-up visits and some new patient visits. You will also be responsible for reviewing new patient referrals as they come in. You may be asked to help cover inpatient consults depending on staffing needs. The APP will have the opportunity to learn and perform bone marrow biopsies. Onboarding and orientation would consist of working 5, 8 hour days once that is complete you can choose to work 5, 8h or 4, 10h days.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $100.48 - $130.31 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master’s or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role.
- Two (2) years of recent NP experience in Hematology or Oncology or Primary Care in the outpatient or inpatient setting or completion of the UCSF Oncology Fellowship program within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years or greater of recent NP experience taking care of malignant hematology patients in an outpatient setting.
- Able to perform Bone Marrow Biopsies
License/Certification
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.

Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.
- Accepted Certifications for Adult Outpatient position: Adult Outpatient Adult Outpatient (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC)
- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a nurse practitioner.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
