What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiovascular Technologist II | Electrophysiology Lab | position at UF Health?
The Cardiovascular Technologist II performs direct patient care: assists with both invasive and noninvasive procedures, assists patients with personal care needs, coordinates services provided, and documents patient care. Cardiovascular Technologist II is a multi-modality position and may be assigned to work in a variety of locations, assist other cardiac procedural modalities.
Responsibilities
- Multi-Modality must have the knowledge to make quick and highly technical decisions in order to accommodate the changing work environments.
- Must be able to resolve conflict and endure the pressures associated with a changing work environment.
- Assists physician as necessary to provide support during invasive as well as non-invasive procedures.
- Educates patient regarding pending procedure and answers all questions and concerns to the patient’s satisfaction. Provides patient assistance for personal care including ambulation, bathing, dietary needs, toileting and transfer.
- Ensures patient safety and comfort with regards to table pads and back support in preparation and during procedure.
- Seeks pertinent information related to patient and assists with provision of care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area. Accurately completes all patient/procedure paperwork. Completes orders in EMR within the allotted time frame.
- Utilizes appropriate aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and transfer of infections. Based on assessment, notifies medical staff of problems/concerns.
- Stays abreast on all equipment functions and associated precautions and hazards of all equipment used. Provides necessary support to maintain proper equipment function.
- All other duties as assigned by department.
Qualifications
Education
- Associates Degree Cardiovascular Technology OR
- Respiratory Therapist OR
- Radiologic Technology
Additional Information:
- In Lieu of education requirements, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
Experience
- 0-1 CV Technologist (with Degree)
- 2 years of Cath Lab experience preferred (with Degree).
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire) OR
Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) Certification (Required within 12 months of hire) - Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Preferences
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
Additional Information:
BLS provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS provided by the American Heart Association (AHA), required within 3 months of hire.
