As an Assumed Reinsurance Intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in the underwriting process on new and renewal business, as well as work with other stakeholders in developing and implementing Assumed Reinsurance business practices. Further, the Assumed Reinsurance Intern will assist in coordinating various aspects of the Assumed Reinsurance operations, to include submission analysis, broker communication, interpretation of data and reports, refinement of internal & external audit processes and coordination of contracts via our contract management system.
What to expect:
- Collaboration with intern group to solve business problems and present solutions to executive leadership.
- Exposure to UFG’s leadership team through various networking events, including participation in the Build Your Network Program.
- Participation in a variety of development and social activities with interns from other business units.
- Research in the reinsurance industry to identify emerging risks.
- Support of reinsurance reporting to include MGA programs.
- Assisting the Director of Assumed Reinsurance with development & of educational presentations.
- Involvement with our CAT modeling and Actuarial team(s) to gain exposure to forecasting catastrophe claims frequency & severity as well as the interplay between losses and product pricing.
- Contribution as a key member of the Assumed Reinsurance office.
What it takes:
- A currently enrolled student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in insurance, risk management, actuarial science, finance, business, or related field(s).
- A general knowledge of Insurance or Reinsurance principles and processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Computer programming or coding skills, helpful but not required.
