Dover Behavioral Health System is seeking an Activity Therapist to deliver high quality life skills and leisure activity programs for patients based on appropriate developmental, social, and emotional stages of each patient.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver therapeutic programs for patients and make treatment recommendations that are individualized to circumstances and needs of each patient in conjunction with interdisciplinary treatment team
- Maintain the clinical and administrative documentation associated with the therapeutic services provided
- Stay abreast of regulatory standards (including The Joint Commission) that involve recreational and activity therapies
- Effectively contribute to the discharge planning of patients
- Assist the Lead Activity Therapist in maintaining the Activity Therapy Department’s resources and equipment including the movie and book library; ensure rooms are properly supplied and maintain cleanliness
- Deliver and collect patient exit interviews and implement appropriate measures based on results
- Collaborate with clinical management on scheduling activity therapy sessions based on patient and hospital needs
- Will oversee and monitor Activity therapy patient care programs and treatment outcomes
- Provide individual and/or group evaluation in treatment sessions
- Identify, document, and report any and all instances of adult or child abuse and neglect to the appropriate parties including a member of management, the police, and state agencies
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field and working towards Recreational Therapy certification
- Experience in clinical interviewing and knowledge of the concept and philosophy of Activity Therapy in the treatment process
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a Recreational Therapy or related field
- One year experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse facility
