What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLAIMS SUPERVISOR position at UHS?
Job Summary: The Claims Supervisor directly reports to the Manager of Claims and is an integral member of the Claims Leadership team. The Claims Supervisor is responsible for the analysis and management of Fully Insured, Medicare and Self- Funded claims to ensure quality service is being delivered to Health Plan members, providers and their office staff. The Supervisor coaches, counsels, and trains staff in accordance with company policies and applicable labor laws. The Supervisor is responsible for promoting quality, superior customer service, and identifying enhancements and changes to workflows to increase effectiveness and productivity. The Claims Supervisor is expected to function at a high level of expertise and competency, provides on-going feedback and identify areas for improvement/growth. Must be able to make independent decisions, multi-task and prioritize tasks, and support company goals, department goals and advance company values.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 5 years healthcare, Medicare or managed care industry, preferably in claims processing roles with increasing levels of responsibility
- Ability to mentor and motivate staff
- Knowledge of State and Federal regulations pertaining to health insurance industry.
- Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written
- Understanding of negotiations principles
- Proven ability to review and analyze statistical data identifying trends, problems or opportunities for quality service improvements.
- PC literate with intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and time and attendance software systems (Kronos).
- Strong organizational skills, the ability to identify, analyze, research, develop and implement creative solutions
