The Clinical Nurse Consultant I is accountable for facilitating the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Clinical Nurse Consultant I provides patient care and consultation, coordinates the educational development of staff members and acts as a role model in clinical practice. The CNCI strives to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Clinical Nurse Consultant I participates in monitoring, developing, and evaluating nursing practice while fulfilling unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness assessments on patients using known or innovative evidence-based techniques, tools, and methods.
- Identifies, collects, and analyzes appropriate data when prescribing evidence-based nursing interventions for patients that integrate the unique needs of individuals, families and groups.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary professionals to integrate evidence-based nursing interventions into a comprehensive plan of care to enhance patient outcomes.
- Evaluates effects of nursing interventions for individuals and populations of patients/clients for clinical effectiveness, patient responses, efficiency, cost effectiveness, customer satisfaction and ethical considerations.
- Uses/designs appropriate methods and instruments to assess knowledge, skills and practice competencies to advance the practice of nursing.
- Identifies interpersonal, technological, environmental or system facilitators and barriers to implementing nursing practices that influence nurse-sensitive outcomes.
- Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team to implement innovative evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes for patients.
- Mentors nurses at all levels of the organization to acquire new skills and develop their careers.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
