Summary: Lead Carpenter – Remote, AK
Summary: Lead carpentry on a commercial project including construction work, all types of framing, including walls, roofs, insulation and vapor barrier installation, finish carpentry skills including installation of cabinets and trim, door and window installation including commercial grade hardware. This position is a Non-Exempt Temporary Position. This position is for a working foreman able to interpret plans and lead crews under the supervision of the acting superintendent. Must have interpersonal skills. Davis Bacon 23’ scale – 60 hrs weekly.

Responsibilities

- Perform construction work, all types of framing, including walls, roofs, insulation and vapor barrier installation.
- Finish carpentry skills including installation of cabinets and trim, door and window installation including commercial grade hardware.
- Operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- H ave Advanced knowledge of related construction activities, i.e., mechanical & electrical systems.
- Knowledge of carpentry on a commercial project including construction work, all types of framing, including walls, roofs, insulation and vapor barrier installation.
- Knowledge of finish carpentry skills including installation of cabinets and trim, door and window installation including commercial grade hardware.
- Perform independently without direct supervision
- Ability to operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules.
- Have punctual and on time work history.
- Ability to run crews of carpenters & laborers
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma/or Equivalent.
- Minimum of Five (5) years of related experience.
- Must possess and maintain current driver's license.
- L ift/push/pull 50lbs to 100lbs on an occasional basis.
- Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis.
- Will be required to have the ability to bend, squat, crouch, crawl, and kneel.
- Perform prolonged standing (2-3 hour intervals).
- Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, above head).
- Must have good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.
- Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toes shoes, goggles, etc., per OSHA standards.
- Ability to work at heights above 12 while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts.
- Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating materials.
- May work in adverse weather conditions, (cold and hot).
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
- The wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment may mitigates risks associated with these conditions and is mandatory.
- Work environment is that of a construction site.
- Will be working in close proximity to moving equipment.
