This position will do various tasks in multiple areas of the lab. This will include special testing within the technical area to include dye transfer, sticker testing and other special testing. In addition, this position will include flammability check for all program reports on an as needed basis. Textile construction/fabrication identification is a required skill as well as knowledge of flammability test methods for all lab areas.

- Builds and/or adapts basic setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
- Performs tests using general laboratory equipment.
- Performs routine care of designated test equipment and work area.
- Operates computer terminal to extract/input readily available information and to use available software.
- As directed follows defined test plans and datasheets.
- Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results.
- Records and explains test results.
- Reads and interprets results of tests.
- Prepares charts, graphs and reports to explain test results.
- Examines test samples, reads measuring instruments and reviews test data with supervisor.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and operational instructions.
- As instructed examines customer samples and learns to operate basic tests for each case.
- Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Operates designated laboratory equipment and tools as directed.
- Receives instructions from and reports data to engineers and other laboratory technician staff.
- Records observed or calculated data on appropriate data sheets.
- Develops working knowledge of the job, methods, instrumentation and systems.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.
- Required: Higher Secondary Education.
- Required: Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers.
- Required: Desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Required: Ability to use Microsoft Office suite.
