What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bakery Assistant position at Umpleby's Bakery & Cafe?
We are excited to add a baker's assistant to our bakehouse. Our bakers are responsible for making a full range of baked goods including breads, doughs and fillings from scratch. Skills include dough shaping, lamination, making cakes, cookies and pastries. We offer in-depth training but commercial kitchen experience and/or baking experience/training a plus.
Duties:
- Prepare and bake a variety of bread, pastries, and other baked goods according to recipes
- Measure and mix ingredients, knead dough, and shape dough into desired forms
- Decorate baked goods with icing, glazes, and other toppings as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to coordinate baking schedules and ensure timely production
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a baker in a restaurant or catering setting is a bonus
- Knowledge of some baking techniques and recipes
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
