The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is a vital team member in our healthcare delivery system, performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. Key responsibilities include analyzing bodily fluids, tissues, and other specimens, preparing detailed reports, and ensuring the accuracy of laboratory records.
Compensation:
Starting pay begins at $18.00 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education. This non-exempt position is eligible for shift differentials.

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Certification:
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by a recognized agency (e.g., ASCP) is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred but not mandatory.
Required Registration/License/Certification:
- MLT certification through an accredited testing agency is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in processing specimens safely and effectively while adhering to legal limits and established policies.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Familiarity with laboratory computer programs and a typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Physical Demands:
- Lifts, positions, pushes, pulls, and transfers up to and greater than 50 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity and mobility.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking, with frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
- Near acuity vision capability for work requiring close attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and laboratory hazards such as electrical equipment, chemicals, and biohazards.
- Shift flexibility, including potential for irregular hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Extended periods of standing and walking during shifts.
- Exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, and other reagents.
