If you have experience working in a Deli performing Assistant Management duties, we would enjoy meeting you! With our growing deli's, we are actively seeking a FT Assistant Deli Manager to join our busy team on Long Island! We create a welcoming environment with handmade dishes and gourmet foods, presented with exceptional and personalized service. This fast paced position requires quick thinking and efficiency coupled with a passion for excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the Deli Department, cutting meats and cheeses, preparing salads, assisting customers with attention to the total operations of the department
- Supervise employees in various duties such as cooking, serving, packaging, and operating counters
- Manage product storage, maintenance and rotation activities to avoid any damages or spoilages
- Assist in preparation of inventory
- Schedule and assign works for associates on daily basis
- Assist in interviewing, hiring and training associates
- Provide training to staff on company policies and sales guidelines
- Respond to queries and complaints from both customer and employee, working with employees to operate the Deli counter
- Ensure employees follow company policies and store rules
- Develop sales promotion programs to attract more customers
- Ensure that products are properly labeled with prices and dates
- Monitor and maintain stock inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems
- Operate all food preparation machines and equipment
- Receive, unload and stock the food items
- Ensure that facility is maintained neat, clean and safe
- Other duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a busy Deli with at least 1 of those years in a management position
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize

Working Conditions
- Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
- May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
- Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
- There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
