Position Summary
The Automation Engineer is responsible for executing manufacturing automation development projects within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. This role will interact with other automation team members and operations stakeholders from project inception to production introduction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Functions as project lead or project team member depending on workload assigned. In project lead role, responsible for schedule, budget and communication with suppliers and internal customers.
• Reponsible for requirements definition, process development, mechanical design, controls development, assembly, debug and qualification activities associated with the development of automated manufacturing equipment.
• In project lead role, manages activities of supporting project teams and internal development partners; ensures progress against established plan and makes determinations based on analysis of business information to alter or update schedule and resource allocation to meet project requirements and development schedule.
• Communicates progress and issues to stakeholders, peers and leadership. Collaborates with internal manufacturing and development partners to resolve project scope, product design and/or process issues to ensure project meets performance, schedule and budget objectives.
Knowledge & Skills
• Strong background in using project and program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results.
• Highly skilled in mechanical design using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks.
• Background in statistical analysis, including gage capability, process capability and design of experiments.
• Experience with controls systems development a plus.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required
• 4 years of experience in related field
