What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Development Manager position at Unifi Inc.?
The Process Development Manager will provide research and development support in our package dye house and oversee the improvement and expansion of existing processes and technology.
How you will play an integral role?
- Demonstrate leadership and integrity to staff; encourage a fair, open communication and teamwork environment.
- Utilize process knowledge and methodical experiment design to develop product variants and new products with regards to customers’ needs and meet internal process performances expectations.
- Use process knowledge and disciplined process improvement methods, recognize and improve cost and quality product offering performance.
- Monitor product performance metrics ensuring process capabilities are met with each production run.
- Manage plant issues related to process and product issues with appropriate follow-up and documentation.
- Maintain production and technical relationships providing guidance; gain awareness of problem resolution and/or opportunities for improvement.
- Provide manufacturing specifications and technical assistance to Quality Assurance and Manufacturing.
- Maintain relationships with Sales, Technical Service, Product Development, and Marketing where clear and efficient communication results in successful development efforts for our customers.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and academicians, in order to remain aware of the latest related technologies, maintain an exchange of development research and assist suppliers with continuous improvement efforts.

Are you qualified for the position?
- Four-year degree preferred in engineering or physical science. Particular interest in textile chemistry or chemical engineering.
- 5 year’s experience in textile production, product development, and/or color development is strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Word & PowerPoint)
- Experience with analysis tools a plus
