Completion of secondary education or equivalent; one (1) year experience operating construction equipment; ability to interpret maps and street signs, understand general instructions, and perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; works on and around powered platforms and/or vehicle mounted platforms (e.g., manlifts, fire trucks).; is exposed to possible injury from extremely noisy conditions above 85 db; is exposed to possible injury as a result of working with moving mechanical parts of equipment or machines; works in or around crowds; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; has exposure to hazardous driving conditions; works second shift, third shift, irregular hours; works rotation shift.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered heavy work.For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
(1) Operates asphalt distributor, front-end loader, sidearm mower/ditcher, dump truck or semi truck with trailer and other related equipment in the construction, maintenance and repair of county roads, culverts, bridges, ditches, guardrails, etc.; uses hand and power tools (e.g., cutting torch, power saws, power drills, vibrators, jacks, etc.) to perform related semi-skilled labor in performance of assigned duties (e.g., builds concrete forms, places reinforcing steel, pours concrete, lays block, repairs/installs guardrails, performs steel, wood and concrete bridge work, installs signs and pavement markings, etc).
(2) Performs duties of Maintenance Worker 1.
(3) Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance program (e.g., checks fluid levels, lubricates equipment, cleans and washes trucks, plows and equipment, etc.).
(4) When assigned, acts as a working crew leader to lead other maintenance workers on specific projects (e.g., assigns tasks, provides direction and ensures work complies with established standards, etc.).
(5) Completes daily time sheets (e.g., researches activity functions, etc.); responds to routine public inquiries in a courteous manner.
(6) Maintains required licensures and certification.
(7) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
(8) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
