The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. This includes supervising clinical staff, coordinating patient care, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, and promoting best practices in exercise therapy and education for patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the cardiopulmonary rehab team, including exercise physiologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other support staff.
- Oversee patient assessment, treatment planning, exercise prescription, and education sessions to ensure high standards of care.
- Monitor patient progress and outcomes, intervening as necessary to ensure optimal clinical results.
- Ensure compliance with AACVPR (American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation), CMS, and other applicable standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to develop and modify individualized care plans.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, including patient records, billing information, and quality improvement data.
- Facilitate staff in education, training, and performance evaluations.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in program development to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
- Serve as a resource for clinical problem-solving and patient care challenges.
- Provide direct patient care.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, or related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Current licensure as an RN, RRT, or other applicable clinical discipline if required by state law.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification are required.
- Certification in Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehabilitation (e.g., CCRP or AE-C) preferred.
- Minimum of 3β5 years of experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation or related field is preferred.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, exercise physiology, and rehabilitation principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Clinical setting with exposure to patients, equipment, and routine healthcare risks.
- May require standing or walking for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of patients or equipment.
