TITLE: Domestic Violence Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Programs
REPORTS TO: Domestic Violence Regional Coordinator
Employment Status: Full Time
Reg. Hours Worked: 40 / Week, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $24.04/hr
JOB SUMMARY:
The Domestic Violence Coordinator will build and maintain a collaborative relationship with community partners in Pasadena that can provide the full scope of supportive services and resources that homeless individuals and families need to become stably housed. The Domestic Violence Coordinator assigned to direct contracts will perform all the duties as indicated in that contract and by assigned supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:

Develop relationships with community partners and maintain referral networks with: domestic violence, human trafficking, crisis housing, mental health, substance abuse treatment, mainstream benefits, early childhood education, vocational training, domestic violence agencies, McKinney Vento Liaison, and elected officials.

Manage the relationships with domestic violence community partners to ensure linkage is made for eligible individuals and families.

Assist DV Regional Coordination in coordinating regional case review meetings monthly within SPA 3.

Coordinate with LA County 211 and domestic violence community partners to provide safe crisis housing options to individuals and families in need.

Represent CES for Families at other regionally coordinated collaborative meetings including the Pasadena COC.

Conduct presentations on domestic violence at community partner agencies to educate the community about services and resources.

Assist DV Regional Coordinator in establishing a communication protocol for response on referrals made to CES.

Facilitate the usage of a universal assessment tool to determine vulnerability, assisting individuals, TAY and families with collecting documents necessary for housing, and providing linkage to ongoing supportive services.

Provide case management services as needed to individuals and families that are enrolled in the program. Complete housing plans, refer to other homeless agencies, and conduct housing inspections.

Ensure the safety of all individuals as well as prioritized health, supportive service and educational needs. Provide appropriate crisis intervention in the form of support and/or problem solving as deemed necessary.

Determine if there is a need for Adult Protective Services or DCFS and take any action required by State Law. Complete and submit incident reports when necessary.

Complete reports and documentation as required by Union Station Homeless Services and program funders.

Monitor program data, documentation of services, and progress toward outcomes.

Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work indoors in temperature controlled environment and occasionally exposed to outdoor weather and driving conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Stand and sit for long periods of time; move and walk to various locations; climb stairs, stoop, kneel, reach, pull, push, bend, twist, and occasionally lift and or move objects. Use hands to finger, handle or feel.

See, hear and speak clearly in order to give and receive information and instructions, perform administrative work, and drive motor vehicles including passenger vans.

May require exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious agents.

Requires use of a computer keyboard for substantial periods of time.

Able to travel to off-site meetings and evening community meetings
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-
Knowledge of housing resources in Service Planning Area 3 (San Gabriel Valley) preferred. Resources can include crisis housing and permanent housing throughout Los Angeles County.

Knowledge of HUD guidelines and experience working with subsidized housing programs such as Section 8, Shelter Plus Care, Rapid Re-Housing and others.

Current knowledge of best practice models, including: Housing First, Mental Health Recovery, Harm Reduction, and Critical Time Intervention.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent presentation skills

Proficient in use of laptop computer and Microsoft Windows, Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).

Creative problem-solving skills

Possess valid California driver's license and properly registered vehicle.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in social work or related field preferred.

Three years of experience in social services required.

40 Hour Domestic Violence Advocate Training preferred.

Experience working with domestic violence population is preferred.

Experience assisting low and very-low income individuals access affordable housing prefered.

Experience working with homeless individuals preferred.

Bilingual: Desirable, but not required.
