TITLE: Human Resources Trainee
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
REPORTS TO: Employee Relations Manager
Employment Status: Part-Time
Reg. Hours Worked: 20hrs/ Week, Non-Exempt
Salary: $20/hr
Schedule: Flexible / Hyrbrid (Pasadena, CA)
(First 30 days onsite with flexible hours)
JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Trainee will conduct routine administrative studies, research and analyses, investigations, and presentations associated with employee relations, performance management, and leadership development under close supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct in-person, video, or telephone intake interviews with complaining parties in order to clarify details about their concerns.
- Prepare written summaries outlining allegations statements and other pertinent details, such as incident dates, names of involved parties, etc.
- Participate during interviews and assist the assigned investigators by taking detailed and accurate notes of employee statements.
- Collect evidentiary materials, such as video footage, records of training, performance and past disciplinary action.
- Assist managers with writing routine disciplinary actions, such as notices of coaching and counseling.
- Maintain investigation case logs, case files, and grievance log in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist with the preparation, archive and retrieval of investigation plans, reports, and exhibits.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Continuous: walking, standing, bending and twisting of the neck, bending and twisting of the waist squatting, simple grasping, reaching above and below shoulder level, and lifting and carrying materials over 25 pounds.
- Frequent: sitting, repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.
- Exposure to outdoor weather, noise, dust, fluctuating temperature, and lighting.
- Complex reading and writing skills, judgment and decision-making capability, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interact with other employees, clients, customers, and members of the public.
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and classify information.
- Ability to perform arithmetic operations, transcribe, enter, and post data.
- High level of concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time.
- Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Requires use of computer keyboard for long periods of time.
- Able to travel to off-site meetings.

- Strong skill in the application of office software, such as electronic mail, word processing (Word and Google Docs), spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), presentation (Power Point or Google Slides), and scanning (Adobe, PDF).
- Basic skils in the operation of office equipment and machines, such as desktop or laptop computers, printers, and scanners.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Option I: Bachelors degree in business management, human resources management or closely related field from accredited college or university.
- Option II: Completion of 60 semester or quarter units and current enrollment in an undergraduate program leading to a Bachelors degree in business management human resources management, or closely related field from accredited college or university.
- Option III: One year of experience performing routine administrative work activities requiring the basic application of policies and procedures in a human resources organization.
