This is a substitute role and will work as needed.
United Ability is an organization that provides a variety of services to individuals with disabilities. We are currently seeking candidates to join our team as an Employment Specialist assisting and supporting people with disabilities in obtaining and maintaining community employment. Working through our established business partners and networking with potential employers, you will work collaboratively to assist our clients in job placement and maintaining employment. Each day working with these individuals and being a part of their employment goals will allow you to see how much your work matters!
Collaborating with other team members, you will:
- Screens candidates by interview, reviewing documents and recording results.
- Develops vocational profile.
- Assess vocational interests and connections.
- Assists with candidate’s transportation and other support services needs.
- Identifies services and opportunities in candidate’s preferred area of work. Determine candidate’s skills. Documents all information gained.
- Ensures CARF standards are met with completing and updating annual documents.
- Complete all documentation for invoicing.
- Develop jobs for candidates. Surveys community for job openings and arranges interviews. Networks within the community. Collects and documents information about available jobs. Communicate goals and methods of United Ability to potential employers.
- Documents job development efforts in Therap.
- Counsels with parents/caregivers about job expectations. Assists with job interview/training. Accommodates /trains candidates in use of technology.
- Tracks progress of employee once on the job. Conducts employee/employer satisfaction assessments.
Applicants’ general qualifications include:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Excellent communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful completion of motor vehicle screening
- Experience in dealing with adults with disabilities is preferred.
- Background in employment, staffing, or business development preferred.
