Job Title: Quality Inspector
Hourly positions receive additional shift premiums for working 3rd shift.
JOB DUTIES
- Perform various testing procedures on materials to ensure product specifications meet company and customer requirements.
- Perform inspections to approve and authorize production of materials from startup and continuing throughout the production process.
- Confirm all inputs into the ERP system are complete and correct.
- Report out of tolerance parts, materials, or product to machine operators and/or supervisor(s).
- Assist in the diagnoses to correct problems to assure quality production.
- Communicate to production employees, maintenance personnel, supervision, as well as management ways to effectively correct issues within the processes.
- Prepare and publish, as needed, daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Complete documentation to meet customer requirements: Certificate of Analysis.
- Maintain, service, and repair instruments used in the measurement of finished product.
- Assist in new product development and validation.
- Examine returned goods, conduct comparisons to specifications, and report findings.
- Maintain detailed files and data pertaining to returned material.
- Identify, quarantine, and tag all non-conformant material, and maintain the area.
- Investigate and pursue disposition of non-conformant material.
- Responsible for Continuous Improvement efforts.
- Preserve working relationships with outside organizations for company success, including audits relating to certifying agencies.
- Participate in outside agency inspections.
- Perform on-the-job training to new employees.
- Participate in required training.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Work up to 12 consecutive hours, which hours may fluctuate based on the production needs of the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two-year technical degree in related field or at least three years recent manufacturing production/quality experience preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Strong ability to use measurement tools.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Good understanding of production procedures and best practices.
- Must perform duties while observing all OSHA compliant and company safe work practices and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner with the co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals and/or airborne particles, high pressure fluids, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
