What are the responsibilities and job description for the High Care Department Supervisor position at United Supermarkets, LLC?

The High Care Department Supervisor will facilitate, manage and lead all processes and procedures to manufacture the highest quality product within the specifications established. This position is responsible for all facility operations, including but not limited to sanitation, maintenance, production and packaging in the High Care Department and assist in other department as required.

  • Be accountable for all maintenance aspects associated with your farm.
  • Understand the mechanical workings of your department.
  • Understand the cooling operating equipment.
  • Keep equipment and facilities in good working repair.
  • Properly and promptly fill out maintenance requests.
  • Communicate effectively with Maintenance Department.
  • Provide a safe working environment.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Be involved with monthly safety meetings.
  • Help conduct monthly safety and fire prevention audits, if asked.
  • Keep equipment and facilities in good working repair.
  • Follow proper procedures for reporting accidents.
  • Properly and promptly fill out all accident reports.
  • Train departmental personnel on emergency response plan.
  • Communicate effectively with Safety Coordinator.
  • Promote safety.
  • Promptly and properly report all work-related injuries.
  • Be responsible for your department’s turnover.
  • Hire good people.
  • Provide a culture in your department that creates opportunity.
  • Know turnover and reasons.
  • Properly and promptly fill out all necessary personnel forms.
  • Follow a detailed employee development program.
  • Orient and train employees.
  • Follow and promote SOP’s (Playbook).
  • Train SOP’s (Playbook).
  • Train and certify qualified employees consistent with defined timelines.
  • Develop future leaders and encourage promotions.
  • Develop personnel knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Hold regular department meetings to inform/educate employees.
  • Participate in all required meetings.
  • Promptly resolve all personnel issues.
  • Create an environment that promotes two-way communication.
  • Create a positive and enjoyable work environment.
  • Promptly and properly fill out company forms when needed (Evaluation forms, annual reviews, Leave of Absence, etc.).
  • Use and promote good food safety practices.
  • Ensure that all recipes are being followed.
  • Train and follow company food safety guidelines.
  • Ensure that all food safety guidelines are being followed.
  • Promptly resolve all personnel issues.
  • Handle situations when they occur.
  • Be fair.

  • Communicate issues with immediate supervisor and HR Department.
  • Document according to company policies.
  • Obtain approval from immediate supervisor and HR Department for all promotions, terminations and salary adjustments recommendations.

  • Challenge peers to excel.
  • Ask for help when needed.
  • Repetitive bending, climbing, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Work in Hot/ Cold Environments
  • Communicate, train and promote Department Leaders, Leads and Production Trainer expectations.
  • Be able to do any and all tasks described in the job descriptions of those you supervise.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 – 5 years food supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of HACCP & Food Safety Plans
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
  • Ability to implement applicable policies, procedures, and requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and experience with cleaning chemicals
  • Knowledge of first aid/emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in a USDA plant
  • Ability to operate of all applicable equipment
  • Exposure to steam, equipment, and chemicals
  • Must routinely lift 24-30 pounds and be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner
  • Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude
  • Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
