POSITION: Controller
REPORTS TO: President/CEO
SALARY: $120k - $140k Annually
STATUS: Exempt Full-Time
PURPOSE: The Controller manages key financial functions for United Veterans Beacon House, a non-profit tax-exempt organization. Directs financial decisions by setting, overseeing, and enforcing policies and procedures and is responsible for all financial reporting and audits.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the President/CEO in setting financial policy and participates in budget management.
- Directs accounting staff for all financial and accounting activities including month-end and year-end tasks.
- Directs Human Resource staff for all HR related items, including hiring, benefits and payroll system maintenance.
- Responsible for the accurate issuing and recording of bi-weekly payroll.
- Oversees Office Manager and administrative staff within organization.
- Responsible for quarterly filing of sales tax for thrift store.
- Provides operational recommendations to the President/CEO based on revenue and expense analysis and projections.
- Prepares operating budgets for Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) and grant renewals and new grants.
- Serves as bank liaison for the agency’s line of credit.
- Responsible for vehicle lease negotiations.
- Ensures the accounting staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and grant allowable costs.
- Handles the monthly or quarterly submissions of vouchers for expense reimbursement or per-diem billing.
- Responsible for timely filing of required annual financial certification reports (i.e. SF-425, FFR)
- Develops and maintains systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
- Manages cash flow and directs all financial accounting for the organization.
- Monitors banking activity for 20 accounts. Upload and manage positive pay for operating account.
- Responsible for the completion of bank reconciliation.
- Works with VP of Development to maintain an online donation database.
- Collaborates with VP of Property Management on project management.
- Works in conjunction with the Vice President/COO to ensure grant compliance.
- Responsible for the accurate cost allocation to appropriate grants.
- Attend weekly team meetings with management staff to discuss policy and procedure, staffing, HR issues, etc.
- Attend weekly and quarterly meetings with executive staff and the operational coaching team.
- Provides financial reports to the Board of Directors.
Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
