What are the responsibilities and job description for the HCHV Support Staff position at UNITED VETERANS BEACON HOUSE?
PURPOSE
Maintain day-to-day operations on-site within the shelter system. Ensure the safety and well-being of all program participants. Conduct intakes and enforces compliance with VA policies and procedures. Document all activity which takes place within the shelter during their shift.
SALARY
$18.00 Per Hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- The Support Staff is responsible for the safety for all clients as well as daily shelter maintenance.
- Conducts client intake and enforces client compliance with policies and procedures.
- Documents all activities, writes incident reports and staff memos.
- Briefs incoming staff member on activity. Brings staff member up-to-date on daily client census.
- Begins shift by surveying conditions to maintain safety, cleanliness and documenting issues.
- Conducts morning and evening room checks.
- Reports any security system problems and maintenance needs.
- Monitors client arrivals and departures, assuring each client signs in and out indicating arrival and departure times.
- Documents all client absences and reports to Program Director.
- Monitors and documents all client, staff and visitor arrivals and departures.
- Requests and photocopies identification from all visitors. Maintains client confidentiality.
- Oversees meal preparation.
- Provides crisis intervention and mediation as needed.
- Arranges medical and other emergency services for clients in need.
- Informs Program Director when emergency services; fire, police, EMT are called. Requests and documents police officer names and badge numbers.
- Conducts monthly fire drills and safety maintenance. Remains up-to-date on safety, emergency and evacuation plan procedures.
- Employee may be required to carry out other duties as assigned.
- Regularly reviews shelter policies and procedures. Attends staff meetings.

? Consistently reports to work on time and is ready to begin work at the start of the shift.

? Preforms on-call duties as outlined in On-Call Policy.
? Available to work overtime when necessary.
? Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in the organization of workflow.
? Able to perform duties independently, with minimal need of direct supervision.
? Maintains the confidentiality of clients, shelter/programs, agency and or United Veterans Beacon House.
? Reports to work well-groomed and in compliance with dress code.
? Wears ID Badge while on duty.
? Demonstrates the ability to interact in a positive and helpful manner clients, visitors, contract staff, volunteers, and co-workers.
? Reflects commitment to building a supportive work environment and maintains a positive attitude at the workplace and towards job.
? Projects a good image in dealing with the public clients.
? Is willing to make an extra effort to help build a quality and caring shelter/program.
? Employees may be required to carry out other duties as assigned.
