What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Impact Coordinator position at United Way of Greater Fall River?

At United Way of Greater Fall River (UWGFR), we care deeply about Healthy Communities, Youth Opportunity, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency. The Community Impact Coordinator (CIC) has primary oversight of our Impact work with a focus on strategic initiatives, community education, engagement, advocacy, and grant making, specifically managing grant funding streams and informing and supporting the entire community investment process.

The CIC is a key Relationship Manager for grantees, and as such, the individual in this role is expected to develop and maintain a variety of relationships relevant to UWGFR’s strategic direction, as well as a strong knowledge base of current trends, activities, and changes within the community at large to inform and execute strategies that result in sustainable community change. The CIC also develops cooperative and productive relationships with staff, grantees, and volunteers for the purpose of ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and management. They work cross-functionally with all UWGFR Departments/Staff to provide operational support for all community and program investments.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Function 1: Oversight of Community Impact Grants and Investments

  • Provides oversight and management of grant portfolio (Allocation, Impact, Community Resilience, Special Initiatives, and Disaster Response & Relief Grants as needed)
  • Coordinates and manages the RFP and grant application process, including grant management software, applicant information sessions and technical assistance, initial proposal screening, application review and grant award announcements
  • Manages the execution of annual grant funding agreements and grantee programmatic and financial report and document submission and compliance process during an application cycle
  • Leads volunteer review panels, including staff and volunteer training, meetings, technical support, and facilitation of grant award decision-making and recommendations
  • Develops progress reports and presentations for stakeholders such as the Community Impact Committee, Board of Directors, and Donors and other UWGFR committees
  • Manages data aggregation, evaluation, and analysis of impact to support UWGFR’s strategic decision making for grants and investments
  • Works with Finance Department to manage/track grant payouts and/or suspensions

Essential Function 2: Grantee Relationship Manager & Grant Report Monitoring

  • Serves as key community contact to promote understanding of United Way programs and services and their impact (i.e. fundraising, grant making, community planning, agency relationships, services, etc.)
  • Monitors adherence to MOU requirements; reviews bi-annual grant reports and compares to projected deliverables; communicates deficiencies in progress reports to grantees and collects required information
  • Conducts grantee site visits and encourages agency partner participation in United Way activities
  • Supports UWGFR Development and Impact activities and/or events, to include campaign/donor network activities, trainings, technical assistance, presentations, etc.
  • Works with Resource Development on internal management of special donor and corporate lead investments

Essential Function 3: Support of Organizational Development

  • Stay current and informed on emerging issues that align with our key focus areas both locally and nationally and share information as appropriate
  • Serves as community liaison, project lead, member of organizational development teams, or workgroup/taskforce efforts as necessitated
  • Supports the development and documentation of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes and procedures, their implementation and maintenance in close collaboration across organization departments
  • Cross-training and demonstrated proficiency on Impact tools including but not limited to CRM general use or other similar platforms
  • Participates in a variety of annual events and special initiatives for the organization, such as Day of Caring, campaign/volunteer recognition dinner, fundraising kick-off event, and other activities as needed
  • Attends and participates in community events, activities, and coalitions to represent the company and build strong relationships with key stakeholders and community members


QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience in grants management or similar role
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards, volunteers, or social service programs preferred

Communication & Administrative Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and effective oral and written communication that supports the involvement, engagement, ownership, and transparency among diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all work products and discussions related to the UWGFR
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all professional levels including but not limited to UWGFR staff, Executive Director, programmatic staff, UWGFR Board and Committees, Grantees, and Volunteers
  • Ability to receive and accept feedback with a positive professional outlook while demonstrating the capacity and flexibility to adjust to changes and expectations within the organization and in the community
  • Advanced presentation skills with the ability to lead meetings, discussions and direct them to a reasonable conclusion
  • Must be a highly organized, self-directed strategic thinker that effectively develops and manages assigned operational processes from start to completion, is deadline driven, and can produce required deliverables under pressure and tight time constraints.

Technical Skills

  • High proficiency with CRM system software such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office 365 and other presentation tools
  • Ability to master and utilize database and tracking systems for tracking grant processes, results and outcomes, and online application processes to assist grantees with troubleshooting issues

Analytical Skills

  • Ability to review complex narratives and proposals and make recommendations consistent with UWGFR’s philosophy, culture, standards, and policies
  • Analyzes complex data sets and draws reasonable conclusions
  • Ability to read and analyze program budgets and financial statements


PHYSICAL DEMANDS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Employee must occasionally lift, carry, or move office products and supplies, tables or chairs and fliers or display materials to set up for presentations or activities, and assorted donations, up to thirty pounds
  • Primarily works in a climate controlled, office-based setting
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and adequate transportation
